Music has the power to bring awareness and spark change. That’s what Joel Manchester set out to do with Cold Like This—a song created to highlight homelessness and support Coldest Night of the Year, a nationwide winter walk with a significant local impact.

Joel reflects on homelessness, and why this walk matters to him. “This could be me,” he says. “I completely relate to how easily someone can end up in that position.”

Joel and Colin Fowlie collaborated to write a song from two perspectives—one of a person walking the cold streets and one of someone living through it. Their goal? To remind us all that every person experiencing homelessness has a story and deserves compassion.

Cold Like This” is more than just a song—it’s a call to action, a reminder of the humanity in everyone, and an invitation to join the fight against homelessness. You don’t have to write a song to make a difference. Change happens one step at a time. Are you ready to start walking?
